Carly Pearce News: Divorce and Country Music

Carly Pearce recently opened up about her shocking marriage, and even more shocking divorce.   The country music singer has had a wild couple of years.

Carly Pearce: Marriage and Divorce

Carly Pearce started dating Michael Ray, the man who magically stole her heart and fellow country music singer, on July 19, 2018 and became engaged a few months later on December 19, 2018.
They later got married on October 6, 2019 in a ceremony attended by about 100 people at a Nashville-area farm. It was an intimate wedding attended by family and friends.
The couple famously said of each other at the time, “Knowing without a shadow of a doubt that I didn’t settle for something less than truly the person that I think was made for me is something that I am thankful for,” says Pearce.
Ray then added, “No matter what, I have her in my corner. No matter what, she has me in her corner. I tell her, you’re never going to face anything alone. Never will there be anything in life that you don’t look over and I’m standing beside you.”
But 8 months later, Carly Pearce found herself facing the aftermath alone, but clinging to country music, which is something she dearly loves, helped save her life during that intense period.

Moving on from the Divorce

In June 2020, the couple decided to call off their marriage and go their separate ways.  At the time of the divorce, Pearce’s career was growing, especially following her duet with Lee Brice.
The single, “I Hope You’re Happy Now,” became a smash hit, earning her 3 CMA award nominations and topping PEOPLE Everyday Podcast. Speaking to the host Janine Rubenstein, Carly Pearce revealed that her career success kept her from dwelling too much on her personal difficulties.
“In the midst of so much personal change, and turmoil, and heartache, I still felt so much love from country music,” she said. “In my entire life, country music has always been the thing that made me feel understood or … saved me. In the midst of it, fans really understood what they were giving to me.”
Another thing that made 2019 a hard year to conquer for Carly Pearce was the death of her producer, Busbee.  But she said that though it was hard navigating music without Busbee, it was the pain of the divorce that really struck her down.
The country music singer admitted that she “didn’t see the divorce coming,” and she turned to music to help her heal.  As she sang in her song 29, “But for me 29 is the year that I got married and divorced. I held on for dear life, but I still fell off the horse. From a Miss to a Mrs. then the other way around. The year I was gonna live it up, now I’m never gonna live it down.”
Carly Pearce’s music has helped inspire others so many times in so many ways, and I hope she continues to feel inspired to write them.  Check Country Music Lane daily for more Carly Pearce news and updates.
