CML News: The History Of CMA Fest

The Fan Fair® started in 1972, drawing 5,000 fans to Nashville’s Municipal Auditorium, and soon moved to a new location known as Opryland, now the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center. Fan Fair was founded by three sisters who were Loretta Lynn’s fan club presidents, Loudilla, Loretta and Kay Johnson through their fan club organization IFCO, or International Fan Club Organization.

Now known as the CMA Fest, it brings together tens of thousands of fans from all over the world to enjoy performances by hundreds of artists, all for a good cause. CMA Fest is a special festival where artists volunteer to perform, raising funds for music programs with the CMA Foundation.
