RaeLynn, country singer and voice alum announced the joyous news on her birthday along with the heartwarming words: “Well this Georgia Peach and Texas Rose did the thing. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME! I’m 27 years old and 21 weeks into carrying our BABY GIRL. I already have so much love for this little flower child. I can’t wait to be her Momma and to watch Josh be her Dad.”
The mom-to-be plans to raise her baby in her faith, and she’s even got new songs on the way. RaeLynn has come a long way from being a contestant on The Voice, releasing her debut single which has been certified platinum, and touring. Now she’s entering into the next phase of her life; growing her family.
“Excited for our world to be turned upside down in September cause GOD MADE GIRLS BABY,” she shared to the outpouring of love and support from her fans.
RaeLynn On Starting A Family
The country singer is expecting a child with her husband Josh Davis, who she married in 2016, and in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, she revealed that the past year has allowed her and her husband to really think “more about the important things in life — and for us, that is growing our family.”
She added that it’s going to be a girl. “I for sure thought I was having a boy — I don’t know why; I just did. Josh’s gut feeling the whole time was a girl, so he was right for sure. I didn’t care either way, though.”
“I should have known with my debut song ‘God Made Girls’ that God would give me a girl first!” she jokingly added.
RaeLynn shared the news on her birthday, 21 weeks after conceiving, and speaking on why she made the late announcement or chose her birthday for it, she explained that “every year is special in its own way, but what’s going to make my 27th year on this earth so special is that I get to be a momma to a beautiful baby girl,” she said. “So that’s why I wanted to wait because it’s the best birthday present!”
RaeLynn Discusses Maintaining Her Health Amidst Her First Pregnancy
RaeLynn was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes as a child, and now as a pregnant woman, she talked about keeping herself aware when it comes to managing the condition as an expecting mother.
“The main worry I had was managing my diabetes while carrying a baby,” she explains. “I’ve been so fortunate to have an amazing care team that has me on the best regimen. My diabetes and A1C has never been better than it is now.”
RaeLynn disclosed that she and her husband Josh Davis, who serves in the Army, have already picked out a name for their first child together, but it’s not time to reveal it yet. “We agreed pretty quickly on it because it was just too perfect not to,” she added.
RaeLynn Says She Feels Grateful for Her Faith and For The Strong Women In Her Life
The star is working on new music, a follow-up to her Baytown EP, with a lead single expected to drop this summer. Amid a busy creative life, she said her plans are to base her parenting around her faith.
“We of course are no experts, but for us our faith has been so important in our marriage and upbringing,” the mom-to-be says. “So how we raise her will be centered around faith as well as her self-worth and confidence. Social media is a scary place and I just want her to always be confident in who she is and not compare herself.”
RaeLynn mentioned her friends who are “amazing women and moms around me that have been so helpful.” Excitingly, she’s also got a few friends in country music who are wives and mothers as well.
“Katelyn [Brown] was the first friend I told outside of my family and she cried with me because it’s been a dream of mine for a while to be a mama,” says RaeLynn. “She has been such a light for me during this process. She and Summer Parei have become some of my rocks during this quarantine year. I told Maren (Morris) and she was so excited! I honestly have been so fortunate to have had so many amazing women — Lauren Lane, Brittany Aldean, Hayley Hubbard — help me with tips on what I’ll really need. I’m a pretty lucky girl.”
