Thomas Rhett Akins Jr., otherwise known by his stage name as Thomas Rhett is an American Country singer-songwriter born on March 30, 1990. He was born to parents, singer Rhett Akins and Paige Braswell.
Thomas’s Music Career
Thomas Rhett, since he kicked off his career in music has released five studio albums for Big Machine Records’ Valory Music imprint: It Goes Like This (2013), Tangled Up (2015), Life Changes (2017), Center Point Road (2019), and Country Again: Side A (2021). He has also been nominated severally and has received four Grammy Award nominations with two albums nominated for Best Country Album in 2017 and 2019, respectively.
Thomas Rhett’s five albums have produced twenty-one singles on the Billboard Hot Country and Country Airplay charts over the years with fifteen reaching the No. 1 position on the latter: “It Goes Like This,” “Get Me Some of That,” “Make Me Wanna,” “Crash and Burn,” “Die a Happy Man,” “T-Shirt,” “Star of the Show,” “Craving You,” “Unforgettable,” “Marry Me,” “Life Changes,” “Sixteen,” “Remember You Young,” “Look What God Gave Her,” “Beer Can’t Fix,” and “What’s Your Country Song.”

In addition to the materials he has released since the inception of his musical career, Rhett has written other singles for Jason Aldean, Lee Brice, Florida Georgia Line, LoCash, and Michael Ray amongst others.
Thomas Rhett’s Early Life
Rhett was born in Valdosta, Georgia to parents, Paige Braswell and Rhett Akins -He grew up knowing other singers like Tim McGraw and Brooks & Dunn. He is blessed with a younger sister, Kasey, and a younger half-brother from his father’s side, Brody James Akins, born March 13, 2020. Thomas has some ancestry lineage from Lebanese, where his paternal great-grandfather came from.
After learning to play drums while attending junior high school, Rhett became comfortable going on stage to perform with his father. During his high school days, he belonged to a band named The High Heeled Flip Flops. Thomas Rhett later went to college at Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee, to study communications. Sadly, he dropped out of college when he was 20 – to pursue his interest in music. Subsequently, he accepted a publishing deal by Big Machine Label Group to write songs.
About Thomas Rhett Marriage
Thomas Rhett tied the knot with Lauren Akins on October 12, 2012. After some time, the couple announced that they were expecting a child together, and adopting a baby girl from Uganda, Willa Gray Akins, born November 1, 2015. On August 12, 2017, they welcomed their second daughter Ada James Akins.
Interestingly, Thomas Rhett mentioned his wife and daughters in his song “Life Changes”, and they appeared in the music video with him. He also featured them in his video for “Look What God Gave Her.” On July 23, 2019, Rhett announced that he and his wife were expecting their third daughter, Lennon Love Akins, born on February 10, 2020.
About Thomas Rhett’s Parents
Thomas’s parents have since divorced and remarried. Rhett has a half-brother through his mother, Tyler Lankford, born in April 2005, and another one through his father, Brody James Akins, born in March 2020.
