Carrie Underwood Will Be Joining Other Superstars with Upcoming Las Vegas Residencies

Carrie Underwood can’t wait to get back to the action and the excitement that comes with performing in front of a live audience. Not to be mistaken, Carrie Underwood did not go slow during this pandemic, on the contrary, the country powerhouse released her very first Christian album and even snatched another Entertainer of the Year award at the ACM Awards.

Along with a few virtual performances and performing on award shows – I literally can still hear her and Faith Hill sing together at this year’s ACM awards – the country singer and seven-time Grammy award winner is planning to get back on stage with limited Las Vegas Residency shows.

Reflection: The Las Vegas Residency

Carrie Underwood is joining other musical icons like Celine Dion, Cher, Lady Gaga, Britney Spears and others with her first Las Vegas residency.

After a year of virtual performances, the 36-year-old is ready to kick it to another level. “Don’t get me wrong, I’m so looking forward to getting back to normal and singing on a stage in front of people, but it was a kind of a forced slow down,” Underwood shared with PEOPLE.

“I guess absence also makes the heart grow fonder,” she adds. “As far as the business and being slower and not being able to do all the things we normally do, I feel like everybody’s just itching to get back at it. And I certainly gained an appreciation, a new appreciation for what this life is and wanting to get back in front of people on stage.”

Underwood will take the stage at the new Resorts World Las Vegas for an initial limited run of six shows taking place on December 1-11. “It’s just going to be high energy. I want everything to just be super exciting and big,” Underwood says of her planned residency.

“When I think of Vegas, I think of being a little over the top — I love wardrobe changes and scene changes and different lighting concepts,” she adds. “And I feel like we’re right now just in that planning phase of ‘anything is possible.’ And I just look forward to seeing it all take shape.”

Carrie Underwood Hints At What Her Setlist Could Be For the Residency

Carrie Underwood, who recently became the first female artist to win entertainer of the year award thrice from ACM awards, released her first Christmas album My Gift last year and My Savior, her first gospel album, this year.

With lots of new materials to choose from, the artist revealed that she’s digging into her old archives instead to make up a great setlist for the shows. “The whole thing when we started thinking about ‘reflection’ as our overarching theme, we really just wanted it to be like a ‘best of’ type situation,” she explains.

“And I’ve got a few years under my belt now and been lucky enough to have songs that people will know and can sing along with me,” Underwood continues. “I’m definitely looking forward to seeing all of the party people coming to Vegas to have a good time, to cut loose, let loose singing along to songs like ‘Before He Cheats’ and ‘Good Girl’ and ‘Last Name’ and this, all the sassy songs. I can definitely see it in my head already.”

A Residency with a Charitable Edge

Carrie Underwood’s upcoming residency won’t only come with “high energy” performances and costume changes, it will also benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation with a dollar from every ticket sale going to the foundation.

“I love that it’s like, we’re all here together anyway, enjoying our night, we might as well be doing some good in the world as well,” she says. “And it’s such a small thing, $1 per ticket, but it really adds up. I’ve worked with Make-A-Wish for as long as I’ve been doing this.”

Tickets for Reflection: The Las Vegas residency will become available for purchase on Monday, May 24. Other celebrities with upcoming headlining dates for Resorts World Las Vegas include Celine Dion, Luke Bryan, and Katy Perry.
