The new Coors Light ad’s soundtrack will thrill ‘80s country fans so hard. If you’ve watched the recent ad you’d hear Johnny Lee’s 1980 song Lookin’ for Love playing in the background. It’s a short ad that is made to promote the beer brand.
“Made to Chill” campaign
According to a press release, the ad is a part of the brand’s “Made to Chill” campaign. The brand follows a couple with a very messy apartment, but for some reason, they have a fully stocked and carefully arranged fridge.
As the camera follows the husband when he goes to get a drink, we see an abandoned exercise bike, now a clothes rack, running shoes being chewed apart by the dog, and half-done puzzles are the evidence of hobbies attempted and abandoned during the COVID-19 quarantine. At the end, the guy and his girl both get a can of Coors Light, while they watch a basketball game. The ad ends with the words, “the official beer of finding your true love again.”
“It’s time to say goodbye to all of the bobbies that didn’t keep you chill last year and welcome back your one true love: beer and basketball,” the YouTube’s description of the ad reads. The ad is also expected to run during the NCAA’s March Madness college basketball tournament.

“I think it’s pretty damn cool to have “Lookin’ for Love” featured in the new Coors Light commercial. Country music and beer go together perfectly!” Lee commented about the ad, “The only thing that would be better is if they would send me a lifetime supply, then I would be all set!”
“Single bars and good time lovers were never true,” a line in the song reads. The song’s writers are Bob Morrison, Patti Ryman and Wanda Mallette, and it is published by Sony/ATV Music. Lookin’ for Love was Lee’s first crossover hit, spending three weeks at number 1 on the Billboard country singles chart. It also appeared in the top 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and landed in the top 10 on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary chart.
Lee released a brand new album in February of 2021 named Everything’s Gonna Be Alright.
