Wynonna Judd and Naomi Judd just made an epic comeback. Talk about a once in two decades performance! For the first time ever, in two decades, the mother and daughter duo would be taking the stage to perform at the upcoming CMT Music Awards.
The Judds, Wynonna and Naomi are set to perform in their first ever televised appearance in 20 years. The duo will reproduce their 1990 hit song “Love Can Build a Bridge” in front of Nashville’s Country Music Hall of Fame, a nod to their upcoming induction in May. Kacey Musgraves is scheduled to introduce the pair.
Wynonna Judd And Naomi Hit The Stage Again
The Judds have never performed together at the award ceremony since the show began in 1967. In 2008 and 2009, Naomi, now 76, performed in the awards while Wynonna, now 57, opened the show with Kid Rock in 2011.
All through 1980s, The iconic mother-daughter duo had ruled country music with sold-out tours, 14 No. 1 hit singles, and 20 Top 10 hits. They solidified themselves as one of the biggest duos in country music history, blazing a trail for many female acts to follow.
Other Performers At The Awards Show CMT Music Awards Include
Luke Combs, Miranda Lambert, Keith Urban, Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd, Little Big Town, Kane Brown, Carly Pearce, Cole Swindell and Lainey Wilson, Cody Johnson, and Kelsea Ballerini, who is hosting the show with Anthony Mackie, will all perform at the 2022 CMT Music Awards.
The fan-voted show aired on CBS on April 11 at 8 p.m. ET and will also stream on Paramount+.
The Judds Have Been Inducted Into The Hall Of Fame
Wynonna and Naomi are the only group to be inducted into the Hall of Fame this year. Joining the Judds in the 2022 class of the Hall of Fame are steel guitarist Pete Drake, soul music pioneer Ray Charles, and drummer Eddie Bayers.
The mother-daughter act spoke to PEOPLE last year about being inducted into the Hall. Wynonna revealed that the moment had been a long time coming, especially for her mother.
Wynonna told PEOPLE back in August that she spoke to three people about being inducted into the Hall Of Fame and immediately the first thing they said was, ‘It’s about damn time,’ and as a daughter, I went, ‘Yes, it is.’ My mother, to me, is the queen of my parade — and it’s time to celebrate her.”
