Dierks Bentley was born and raised in the city of Phoenix, Arizona to his late father, Leon Bentley, and his mother, Catherine Childs. He uses the name of his great-grandmother on his maternal side, Dierks, as his middle name.
He graduated in 1993 from the Lawrenceville School in New Jersey, after starting school in Indiana at Culver Academies. He is a 1997 graduate of the Vanderbilt University, in Nashville, Tennessee, after he transferred from the University of Vermont.
The 45-year-old Dierks started his career in country music with the release of his self-titled debut album in 2003 and followed it up with his 2005 album, Modern Day Drifter. Both albums went platinum, helping to launch his name into the spotlight.
His 2006 effort, Long Trip Alone, further boosted his celebrity status, with two singles off the album going on to be number one on the Billboard Country Music Charts. He released further albums containing several hit songs, which helped to cement his name among successful country music artists in the United States.
His most recent album was three years ago, The Mountain, which produced three number one hits in “Living”, “Women, Amen”, and ” Burning Man”. On the 22nd of October last year, he released the single, “Gone”. It is the first single off his forthcoming tenth studio album.

Dierks has been happily married to Cassidy Black for 16 years, with their marriage having taken place on the 17th of December, 2005. Their wedding ceremony took place in Mexico.
They currently live in Nashville, Tennessee with their three kids, daughters Evelyn “Evie” Day Bentley, who was born on the 4th of October, 2008, and Jordan Catherine Bentley, who was born on the 25th of December, 2010, and their son, Knox Bentley, who was born on the 9th of October, 2013.
Evelyn made an appearance in the video for his song, “Thinking Of You”, from his 2012 studio album, Home. Knox also appeared in the video for “Living”, a single he released in 2019.
