Larry Gatlin Plays Golf With COVID-19, Tested Positive After Getting Vaccine
Country music star Larry Gatlin recently received his second dose of the COVID–19 vaccine. Just days later, he tested positive for the virus. The music star says he “doesn’t get sick” and can’t believe the odds of what happened. However, he is thankful as his symptoms are relatively minor. Keep reading to get the full story.
Getting The COVID-19 Vaccine
Once a vaccine was available, many people scrambled to get it. It’s been about a year since the illness that initially seemed to just be affecting other countries suddenly swept through the United States. The country music star received the Moderna vaccine. It has two doses and Gatlin received the first one with no issues. Then, he went to get the second dose on March 4, 2021, per Fox News.
Larry Gatlin Was Tested Twice
The 72-year-old ended up testing positive for COVID-19 on March 8, 2021… just four days after his second dose of the Moderna vaccine. He was then tested a second time with a PCR but it also came back positive. Gatlin reacted by saying,
“What are the odds?”
Country Music Star’s Coronavirus Symptoms
Gatlin explained that his symptoms are relatively minor and he is thankful for that. He said that he’s had chest pressure, coughing, drainage, body aches, and fatigue. To him, it feels like he just has a cold and not even a bad one. Despite having COVID-19, he still managed to play some golf before dinner.

Luckiest man On The Face Of The Earth
When talking about having COVID-19, Larry Gatlin said,
“At this moment I feel like Lou Gehrig when he said, ‘Today I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the earth.’”
He also shared a message to those that have more serious symptoms and complications triggered by the illness. His message is also targeted to people who have lost loved ones.
“To you who have been terribly sick or have lost friends or loved ones, my heartfelt prayers go out to you. I have a lot of character flaws and defects you can pray about if you want to. Instead, please join me in praying for our friends and neighbors who have suffered and are still suffering, and for our country.”
Not only did Gatlin remark about the odds of testing positive for COVID-19 after getting the vaccine, he also said he doesn’t get sick. We wish him a speedy recovery.
