Carrie Underwood Shares Diet And Training Tips
Carrie Underwood is not one for easy songs, and she keeps herself in prime performing condition by working out. The “Ghost Story” singer loves warmups that gets her body and mind ready to go.
Carrie Underwood is currently juggling life on the road with being a mom to two young kids, and let’s be honest, one of those is already stressful without the other. But the star remarkably manages to do both and still come out looking like she just got out of a wellness retreat and is chilled to the max. How does she do that?
Well, she’s not above letting us in on a little secret. She gets her “therapy” by working out, and I know, no one likes exercise, but the star has managed to develop a technic that helps her get into the mood for exercise. Regardless of the workout regime she wants to do, the 39-year-old loves to start out on the treadmill.
Carrie Underwood Shares Her Everyday Workout Regimen
“I’ll walk on the treadmill for 10 to 15 minutes, because I feel like if I do the same thing before I work out, my body’s going to be like, ‘OK, we’re about to work out,’ ” she said. “In my brain and in my body, and I’m telling my body I’m about to work out.”
Straight from the treadmill, Underwood gets into the routine for the day with her fitness coach Eve Overland, and let’s just say that the routine isn’t for the faint hearted. Her sculpted legs bear witness to the strength she packs into her exercises, and it’s for a good cause, as they help her to power through her concerts.
“I’m a very physical performer in that I feel like I use my whole body to sing. I don’t sing easy songs, and I don’t want to. So I have to keep up with myself,” the country superstar said.
“I’m 39 years old now,” continued Underwood, who is also a spokesperson for all-natural sports drink BODYARMOR. “I have to make sure that I can give the fans the best show that I possibly can and feel good doing it. I don’t want to feel exhausted when I get off stage … I want to be ready for it, and I want to be able to give it my all.”
According to Overland, the singer’s routine is designed to be a full-body workout, with extra conditioning she knows the star can handle.
“We always stick to the basics, the basic squats and the dead lifts and the pushups and the pull-ups,” Overland says. “Everything is full-body, but then the next day would be upper body pull, lower body push, that kind of thing. And then I can detail it. So we can stick with the major exercises and deviate from there. Because Carrie’s so conditioned all the time, I actually have the luxury of getting more detailed work with her.”
Carrie Underwood Says Workout Is “Easier When You’re in Your 20s”
Underwood admitted to feeling a difference in her body now as compared to when she was in her 20s. “Things are easier when you’re in your 20s. You feel like you can do anything. You probably can,” she said. “I feel like I’m a little more conscious just about my body and not overdoing things.” But with Overland coaching Underwood, their goal is to “work out smarter, not harder”.
“She knows her body so well, and so actually slowing down and taking that time, actually, I think has helped improve her overall physique as well as conditioning,” Overland said, before quickly adding: “But don’t get me wrong. We have maybe slowed it down, but I challenge anyone to work out with her!”
At the end of the day, Carrie Underwood knows that it’s being able to recharge your body that counts, and she gets her boost by drinking BODYARMOR LYTE.
