Post Malone’s New Brad Paisley Cover “I’m Gonna Miss Her”

Post Malone went country with a  live performance of Brad Paisley’s I’m Gonna Miss Her. The song was released in 2002 and became a number one hit, it still remains one of the most recognized country music songs performed by Brad Paisley.

Post Malone’s country music cover was to raise funds for Matthew and Camila McConaughey’s “We’re Texans: Giddy Up to Give Back” virtual concert set up for the purpose of raising funds for fellow Texans who were impacted by February’s Winter Storms.

Post Malone & Country Music

Post Malone was born in upstate New York but was raised in Grapevine Texas, which made him eligible to join a list of Texas artists who were featured in Matthew McConaughey’s fundraiser.

He performed two classic country covers to close out the show, after a message by Stone Cold Steve Austin played.

His Brad Paisley I’m Gonna Miss Her (The Fishin’ Song) performance was a stripped down version of the country song. Malone covered the song with the Dwight Yoakam Band and he didn’t stray too far from that traditional country sound that the music originally has. It was something that surprised fans because he moved away from his hip-hop/rap roots, proving that Malone’s influence extends to other genres with little or no similarity to his chosen genre.

Post Malone may be recognized as a hip-hop/rap artist, but he’s known for wearing the famous cowboy hat that’s mostly worn by country musicians, which is a clue that he’s influenced by artists that sing and perform in that genre.

Post Malone’s country music love is no secret, like that one time he seriously rocked out to Shania Twain’s American Music Awards performance of Man! I Feel Like a Woman or that time he introduced Carrie Underwood to his mother. He’s also confessed that doing a song with Country Legend George Strait or Toby Keith is a dream that he has. He also once hinted at the possibility of making a country album “later down the line.”

Post Malone’s performance of Brad Paisley’s I’m Gonna Miss Her was effortless, from the clothes to the setting to his calm demeanor as he sang; it was all country charm from him and his band.

He followed up the Paisley cover with a Post Malone-inspired take on Sturgill Simpson’s You Can Have The Crown.

Matthew McConaughey Sets Up Country Music Charity Event

Post Malone, Kacey Musgraves and a few other talented musicians performed in the fundraiser in order to raise money for Texans affected by the recent severe Winter Storms.

Kacey Musgraves, who performed Willie Nelson’s On the Road Again, recounted the personal invitation she received to perform in the show. She explained that she normally doesn’t answer unknown numbers, but for some reason she did and it was Matthew McConaughey. She also added that she immediately accepted the offer as she’s always down to helping people anyway she can.
