Parmalee Makes Major Comeback: Number One Single Featuring Blanco Brown

Parmalee country music band, made up of brothers Matt Thomas (lead vocals, guitar) and Scott Thomas (drums), with their cousin Barry Knox (bass) and John McSwain (guitar), their childhood best friend, came back with a roaring new single that’s making waves on the chart, blasting in at No. 1 43 weeks after its initial release.

Parmalee’s first success came in 2013 with their song Carolina, which also hit number one on the charts at the time. Since the success of Carolina, they’ve managed to receive a nomination at the 2016 ACM for New Vocal Duo/Group of the year and score two top ten singles with their album Feels Like Carolina.

Parmalee & Blanco Brown – Just The Way

The band’s latest release was a collaboration with BBR Music Group’s Blanco Brown. Parmalee and Blanco have been friends for several years and have written together occasionally since. They invited Blanco to join them on the hit song since they were aware of how dedicated he was in spreading joy and purpose.

Just the Way is a feel-good song with themes of self-love. The song’s melodic groove was combined with Matt Thomas’s lead vocals and Blanco’s. The collaboration praises females all over the world for being true and encourages self-love and acceptance.

The music video shows a vast range of females, in all shapes and sizes and colors, either smiling or receiving red roses from the members of the band. I think the song is kind of a giddy, mid-tempo song.

Parmalee’s Just the Way Success

“Thank you to everyone who made this possible for us- the fans, country radio, & digital partners! Today is such a special day… not only are we #1 at country radio in the US and Canada but today is Matt’s birthday! Couldn’t ask for a better present!” the band wrote in celebration of their single that just ascended to number one on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart during its 43rd week on the chart.

This is the second number one that Parmalee has achieved on the chart since the band officially began making music in 2001. The song also became Benny Blanco’s first Country Airplay number one and his second entry on the chart.

The song, released on Stoney Creek, was written by Parmalee lead singer Matt Thomas, Kevin Bard and Nolan Sipe. It was produced by the band’s manager David Fanning.

“It’s been so exciting to see Just the Way take us to our next no. 1,” Matt Thomas acknowledges in a Billboard interview, “We’re so thankful to everyone that helped get it there: our team, country radio and the fans, especially. This song is all about celebrating the women in our lives, so it’s even more special that it’s going No. 1 during Women’s History Month.”

Brown also celebrated the success of the single with Parmalee by commenting, “When dreams meet reality, passion meets purpose. I’m blessed to do what I love for a living. A No. 1 on the radio at a time when there are so many other great songs and gifted individuals is unreal. Parmalee, we did it!”

The “females are all beautiful no matter what body they’re in” single has managed to snatch more than 62 million streams on Spotify, making it the band’s most successful run yet.
