Willie Jones American Dream Debut

In March 2021, millions of fans saw Jones make his late-night television debut performing his civil rights anthem “American Dream” on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Meanwhile, that same month Jones’ marked his first appearance at the Grand Ole Opry, too.

Jones’ performance of “American Dream” at the grand opening of the National Museum of African American Music was classy and everyone present in the event for a fact knew that Willie had done extra work in putting everything in place.

When Willie Jones was asked about the track he released in honor of Martin Luther King, he said,

“I’m not at all political so I hope people pay attention that ‘American Dream’ is a patriotic song about the love I have for my country,” Jones told Rolling Stone. “America is far from perfect, but we can’t throw away all the progress that my ancestors sacrificed everything for to build this country. When we went into the recording studio the last on the 4th of July, the world was flipped upside down, and it just flowed out.”

About Willie’s New Release

In regards to his current single that celebrates having a “ratchet Zydeco rodeo” in the land “where the corn and the cotton grow,” and where “there’s a real thin line between snakes and angels”, the country music crooner recently noted in his words,

“On ’Down by the Riverside,’ I’m telling the truth about where I’m from, and it feels good. I wanted to write something big, braggadocious, and super hard that’s different from what I usually write. [“Down by the Riverside”] started with me freestyling the children’s rhyme ’Down by the riverside, hanky panky,’ then I broke into some verses about growing up in Louisiana. Then I did a pass on crafting the melody over a beat and chased the vibe that [emerged from that].”
