Dolly Parton Makes Heartbreaking Confession

Dolly Parton was raised in a large family as one twelve siblings (six girls and six boys), so it’s natural that she would not only want to have her own children but foresee them running around, probably making a lot of noise, as children naturally love to do. They even daydreamed about whether they’d be tall like Dean or “squat” like Parton, or both.

In an interview Dolly Parton revealed that she and her husband had gone into marriage completely open about having kids, and they never tried to prevent it from being so. They even had a name ready for when it’s a girl—Carla.

Dolly’s Hysterectomy Surgery

Dolly Partonwas always open about that particularly emotional subject throughout her career: “Early on, when my husband and I were dating, and then when we got married, we just assumed we would have kids,” she told Billboard back in 2014.

After their marriage, Dolly didn’t conceive, instead her career took off in the 1970s and ‘80s. After having her career explode phenomenally, she was constantly on the road touring or on set filming a new movie. She was always running around doing the things that she loves.

Although her husband was and still is a very big supporter of her and the success she achieved, he just never travelled much and mostly spent his days at their Tennessee home. Mostly, they chatted over the phone and unfortunately, no one’s been able to make babies from that.

She was at the peak of her career at the time when there was an incident that saw her getting rushed to a hospital from a show she was performing at in Indianapolis. According to reports, the superstar had been experiencing gynecological health problems for years, but didn’t pay them much attention as she concentrated on growing her career. She was forced to cancel the rest of her tours after the incident, and two years later, she underwent a partial hysterectomy for endometriosis.

At first she was really depressed with the thought of not getting to have her own children, but her faith in God, and her bounce-back attitude made it possible for her to be able to rise above all the challenges.

Dolly Parton now says that she and her husband don’t have regrets over not having children, and that it probably happened because God didn’t want them to have any. Also, she thought it was a blessing, because now, everybody’s children could be her children.

“I would have probably given up everything else” for motherhood.  In a recent interview with Glamour magazine, Dolly Parton revealed that if she had been able to have children, then her six-decade spanning career possibly would never have happened. It probably took a lot for her to take on that touchy subject once more, but she also shocked people with what she disclosed

Dolly Parton Celebrates 55 Years Of Marriage

. “I would have been a great mother, I think. I would probably have given up everything else. Because I would’ve felt guilty about that, if I’d have left them.”

Dolly Parton and her husband will celebrate their 55th anniversary as a married couple this year. She commented on their marriage a while back: “We’re completely opposite, but that’s what makes it fun. I never know what he’s gonna say or do. He’s always surprising me.”

“He understands me, he gets me. He’s very secure within himself. He’s never been jealous. It’s a great compliment to me. This is his statement: ‘Well, hell, I know it’s not easy out there. I’d feel less about any man that didn’t fall in love with you.’ So that’s his attitude. Because of that, I realize I’d never find that again in anybody. He loves me, and I love him.”
