Blake Shelton “Fell off the Cliff” After He and Fellow Country Singer Miranda Lambert Divorced
During a recent interview on Good Dish, the “Happy Anywhere” singer shared how his now wife Gwen Stefani prevented him from hitting rock bottom.
Shelton said that having Gwen in his life at the time helped him get past his low points. The couple met when they both appeared on the singing competition The Voice as coaches. At the time, they were both nursing a broken heart and were fresh off from their divorces from their respective spouses. The pain pulled them together and understanding brought them even closer.
“I think she kept me from going to the absolute bottom,” The Voice judge explained. “It was like literally falling off a cliff and a hand reached out and caught me, is what it feels like.”
Shelton previously talked about hitting “rock bottom” in the wake of his divorce from Miranda Lambert, whom he was married to from 2011 to 2015.
Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani’s “Rebound” Fling Turned Out to be so Much More
The coincidental timing of their divorces and joining The Voice family as coaches led to their romance. “It’s a miracle that I met somebody that was going through the same exact thing that I was at the same exact moment in time,” Shelton told Sunday Times in 2018.
Shelton admitted that he once thought of their romance as a rebound fling, but was happy when it grew stronger with time.
The pair dated for five years before finally tying the knot in July 2021 in a small family affair. Since then, Blake Shelton has gotten to have a closer relationship with Stefani’s sons, Kingston, 15, Zuma, 13, and Apollo, 8, all of whom she shares with Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale.
“You gotta get some life in there, and marrying Gwen, I’ve married into a family. She’s got three boys … and all of a sudden you go, there’s other stuff,” he previously told PEOPLE.
Moving on from his painful divorce from Miranda Lambert, he’s now a part of a family of five, something he never could have expected at the time.
