Carrie Underwood ‘My Savior’ Scores A Massive Opening Week For An Album
Carrie Underwood released her first ever Gospel album on March 26 and promoted the album by performing some of its songs in a free concert on Easter. The album is made up of classic Gospel songs that Underwood used to sing in Church as a little girl. She added at the time that doing a Gospel album has been something that’s been on her mind for years, saying that she finally did it because she felt that people could derive some hope from it, especially during everything that’s happening.
In the fashion that’s come to be associated with Carrie Underwood, the album debuted atop the Billboard Top Country Albums charts, knocking out Morgan Wallen that’s had the spot for ten weeks straight.
‘My Savior’ Album Success
Carrie Underwood’s latest album debuted at number four on the Billboard Top 200 chart a week after its release, but has recently lifted from number four to number one in this week’s chart, according to Billboard.
The album, released March 26, sold 96,000 copies in the U.S during its first week, ending April 4. It was enough for the album to debut atop the album sales chart, making it Underwood’s fifth album to achieve the feat.
Underwood’s album trails behind only one other album, Morgan Wallen’s ‘Dangerous: the Double Album’, (74,000 copies), as the biggest opening week of an album in 2021.
My Savior’s first week sales comprises of 43,000 physical album sales, while digital album sales comprises of 25,000 of total album sales.
‘My Savior’ did not benefit from the availability of its vinyl sales, like other albums that have boasted strong debut week sales in recent history. Rather, the vinyl version of the LP will be available on April 30.

‘My Savior’ and charity
Carrie Underwood’s new album is meant to be a companion album to ‘My Gift’ which she released last fall.
She covered well-known classic Gospel songs including ‘I Surrender All’, ‘How Great Thou Art’, ‘Just As I Am’, and others.
She featured CeCe Winans on ‘Great Is Thy Faithfulness’. Winans is also one of the guest artists that performed with Underwood during her free Facebook live stream concert that took place at the Ryman Auditorium.
The concert was able to raise more than $100,000 for ‘Save The Children’, a charity organization responsible for helping underprivileged children with their basic needs.
Carrie Underwood and CeCe Winans are also set to perform together at the upcoming ACM awards happening on April 18. You can watch the ACM awards live on CBS from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. ET.
