Dolly Parton Shares Unconventional Beauty Tips

Dolly Parton isn’t your average gal. In an interview with WSJ Magazine, the country legend discussed how she dresses comfortably at home, even though she is not a fan of sweatpants.

When Dolly Parton is home, fashion goes out the window, and the hitmaker turns to relaxing attire for a comfortable time at home. But that’s not all, the “Jolene” singer also shared some unconventional makeup tactics she employs at home to make sure that she is tornado and earthquake ready at all times.

Dolly Parton Shares How She Lets Loose at Home

Parton, 76, knows how to rock a great attire on stage, on the red carpet, and generally in all her public appearances, but the one place she really lets loose is in her home, but not “sweat clothes” level loose.

In the interview with the media outlet, the country music star said that she doesn’t “wear sweat clothes” at home, but she also insists that it doesn’t mean she sacrifices comfort for fashion when she’s home.  “I do like to be comfortable like everybody else,” Parton continued.

As for her comfortable home attire, she revealed that she owns “little house clothes, like a little dress-type teddy, a long teddy, then I have a little jacket or shirt to match if I get cold.”
To this end she continued by telling us how she feels in the clothes, “I call them my baby clothes because they’re soft like a baby.”

Dolly Parton’s Unconventional Night-time Regime

While many of us are scrambling to get rid of our makeup for a clean and healthy night face, Dolly Parton loves to maintain hers for the entire night. Well, to be honest Dolly Parton is not like the rest of us: one, she’s a legend, and secondly, she’s Dolly Parton, so it’s not even weird or anything.

“All my beauty work and cleaning my face in the morning because I usually try to keep my makeup on at night,” the songstress revealed.

As for her reason for wanting to maintain her makeup on at night, she jokingly adds, “I never know if there’s going to be an earthquake or a tornado or a storm and I’m going to have to go out in the middle of the night!”

But that’s not all: “I don’t like to go home and just tear down completely, because my poor husband has to look at me. And in the morning when I get up I start all over again, put on my makeup and then touch it up through the day,” Parton shared.

As for getting ready for going out in the evening, Parton said that she’ll start with her base look from the morning and “just add a little more shadow, a little more glitter, redder or bright lipstick. I’m so used to doing my own makeup and hair I can do it really fast.”

But that’s not the core of her beauty scheme, and more than any specific product or routine, it’s self-confidence that Parton puts foremost for stepping out beautiful every time.

“I’m impressed with anybody that’s got a sense of glamour and style, but I say, first of all, it’s about being comfortable in your own skin,” she said.

As for her “over-exaggerated look”, Parton revealed that it is in fact inspired by “the town tramp” in her hometown, whom other people looked down on but she considered the look “absolutely beautiful”.

“She wore colorful patchwork skirts and pretty blouses and showed a little cleavage and had red nails and piled-up blond hair and red lipstick and high heels. She was the prettiest thing I’d ever seen,” Parton said. “When everybody would say, ‘Oh, she’s just trash,’ I’d say, ‘Well, trash is what I’m going to grow up to be.’ And I guess my look is glamorous trash!”
