Luke Bryan Reveals His Mom Asked If He Fathered Maren Morris’ Baby: Here’s His Witty Reply
Country singer Luke Bryan isn’t normally the kind to find himself in the sort of gossip that’s hot enough to sizzle his fans, but this recent one is sure to take home the prize.
It was a day like any other for Luke Bryan, except that he received a call from his mother that made him aware of a piece of news. She had been reading up on some gossip online and found something that topped the list for her.
Knowing the person associated with the gossip, she decided to get to the root of the matter. And that was how Luke Bryan got the surprise of his life as he calmly drank his coffee, not suspecting what was about to hit him.
Luke Bryan and Ryan Hurd Call for a Paternity Test
In retrospect, the piece of news that Bryan heard from his mother was from an article published last month from The Sun, which inaccurately listed Luke Bryan as the father of Maren Morris’ baby instead of husband Ryan Turd.
Luke Bryan, 44, recounted the experience in a new Ellen DeGeneres interview that aired Tuesday.
“So, I’m having coffee, and my mother calls me and she goes, ‘I’m sitting here reading some gossip thing,’ which I don’t know how she subscribes to an online gossip thing anyway, and she goes, ‘It says you fathered Maren Morris’ child,’ ” Bryan recalled. “I go, ‘Oh my gosh. I don’t need this today.'”
After hanging up with his mom, Luke Bryan did what any sane man would do, he called his friend and collaborator, Ryan Hurd, who wrote Bryan’s latest single Waves and brought him up to speed.
“I shared it from my mother straight to Ryan, and I said, ‘Buddy I think we need to talk,'” he explained with a laugh.
Bryan went on to clarify that he’s not the father, in case anyone was still missing the point, playfully adding that he would call “Maury Povich”, who is famous for his paternity tests, to back his words and settle the gossip for everyone.
Hurd later replied to the gossip rumors with a joke calling out Luke Bryan, “DAMN YOU @LUKEBRYAN I DEMAND A PATERNITY TEST.”
Maren Morris’ Response to the “daddy-issue” Gossips
The “I Could Use A Love Song” singer in the middle of the rumors took it all in her stride, instead making light of the situation by turning it into a joke. She shared a screenshot of the article, along with the words “I guess the cat’s outta the [bag] @lukebryan,” on her Instagram Story.
The country artist performed for the first time with her husband Hurd, who she married in 2018, on the stage of the 2021 ACM awards where she walked home with two major awards.
Maren Morris welcomed her first child, a son named Hayes Andrew, with her husband Ryan Hurd in March 2020.
On the other hand, Luke Bryan shares two sons: Thomas “Bo” Boyer, 13, and Tatum “Tate” Christopher, 10, with his wife Caroline Boyer, who he’s been married to for 14 years.
