Luke Bryan’s Concert in Fowlerville Draws Massive Fans: “Darndest Thing I’ve Ever Seen”

Country music star Luke Bryan got over 20,000 people roaring when he hit the stage constructed on a Conway Township hay field. It was Bryan’s final stop in his Farm Tour and it easily made history as one of the largest events of its kind to take place in Livingston County.

The 40-acre hay field, owned by the Kubiak family, is located on Sherwood Road down the road from their main Webberville farm near the line between Webberville and Fowlerville. Bryan’s team chose the field as one of six stops on the tour.

Midway through his nearly two-hour set, the “Country Man” singer was joined onstage by several members of the Kubiak family. “This family right here, these are true American farmers right here.”

During the tour, which took place on Saturday September 18, he got enthusiastic fans dancing along to songs like “Huntin’, Fishin’ and Lovin’ Everyday”. The multi-award winning artist said several times during the course of the concert that of all the shows he’s played in 2021, this one at Conway Township hay field was his favorite.

“I’ve been doing the Farm Tour for 12 years and this is the darnedest thing I’ve ever seen.”

The Kubiak’s hay field was completely renovated and transformed for the show with a large stage featuring video screens and lights. Basically, it resembled a small village with its vendors and merchandise booths.

Ahead of the show, the family harvested hay and made various preparations on their land. They feed the hay to their large herd of cattle.

Ticketholders started arriving around 2 p.m., parking their vehicles on another stretch of land across the road, which is also owned by the Kubiak family.

The show, which is Austin Heffington’s first concert ever, had a festive and friendly atmosphere, with people tailgating and playing cornhole.

“Luke Bryan is one of the first artists I listened to when I got into country,” Heffington, 22, a West Bloomfield resident, said. “He still has the new sound but he goes back to his roots.”

His father, Jon Heffington, who lives in Brighton, said that he is particularly touched that proceeds from this year’s tour will be used in providing scholarships for college students from farm families. Luke Bryan is “down to earth, just part of the regular people,” he added.
Bryan was joined by opening acts Whitney Duncan, The Peach Pickers and Dylan Scott. DJ Rock entertained the crowd between sets.

The Story Behind Luke Bryan’s Long-running Farm Tour

Luke Bryan, one of the most successful and awarded country artists of the 2010s and 2020s, launched his famous Farm Tour in 2010 as a means to recognize farmers for their enormous contributions. Growing up the son of a Georgia peanut farmer, paying tribute to farmers through the tour was like paying tribute to his roots.

“After the challenges we have all faced in the last year with so many people losing their jobs, struggling to put food on their tables, food supply chains jeopardized, grocery stores struggling to keep food on the shelves in some areas, it is so apparent to me, and I hope everyone, why our farmers are truly the backbone of our country,” Bryan said in a press release when announcing the tour at the time. “They never stopped providing for all of us. Ever. It’s time to thank our farmers, once again.”
