Who is Rosanne Cash?  Rosanne Cash is the first daughter of the country music megastar, Johnny Cash, and his first wife, Vivian Liberto Cash Distin. She was born on the 24th of May, 1955, in Memphis, Tennessee.

The singer and songwriter first burst into the country music limelight with her 1981 studio album, Seven Year Ache, which produced several hit songs that enabled the album to get a Gold certification from the RIAA.

The versatility in the singing style of the 66-year-old star, which inculcates pop, R&B, hard rock, and folk, has earned her hit songs as well as several nominations at the Country Music Association Awards and Academy of Country Music Awards, Rosanne has 14 studio albums, with 11 of her songs going top of the country music charts, and 21 of them making it to the Top 40.

She has won 4 Grammy Awards with one received in 1985 for her song, “I Don’t Know Why You Don’t Want Me”, with the other 3 coming in 2014 for her album, The River & The Thread, and the duet song with her husband, John Leventhal, titled “A Feather’s Not A Bird”. She was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in October of 2014.

Rosanne Cash Growing Up And Rise To Stardom

Rosanne was born when her father, Johnny Cash, was releasing his songs under the stables of Sun Records in 1955. In 1958, their parents relocated with Rosanne and her three younger sisters, Kathy, Cindy, and Tara, to California.

After their parents separated In 1960 and eventually divorced in 1966, Rosanne and her siblings were raised by their mother, Vivian, in Ventura. Rosanne Cash made her debut song recording under her father’s 1974 album, The Junkie and the Juicehead Minus Me, where she was the lead singer in a cover of Broken Freedom Song, originally sang by Kris Jefferson.

This was after she had graduated from St. Bonaventure High School. She furthered her studies by studying English and Drama at the Vanderbilt University, Nashville, and at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute, Hollywood.

Rosanne released her self-titled album in 1978, which got her a recording deal with Columbia Records. Her second album in 1979, Right or Wrong, was released after her marriage to Rodney Cromwell.

She shot to the spotlight in 1981 with her album, Seven Year Ache, after relocating with Rodney to Nashville. She scored a number one hit with the title track along with other tracks like “Blue Moon with Heartache” and “My Baby Thinks He’s a Train”. Since then she has got on to release award-winning albums and duet songs.

Rosanne Cash Relationships And Marriage

Rosanne got married to the country music singer and songwriter, Rodney Crowell, in 1979. The pair share three children, daughters Caitlin, Chelsea, and Carrie. Alongside their three daughters, Rosanne also took care of Rodney’s daughter from his earlier marriage, Hannah.

The celebrity couple ended their 15-year-old marriage by finalizing their divorce in 1992. After the divorce, Rosanne started dating country music atar, John Leventhal. In 1995, they got married and currently reside with their son, Jakob, in Chelsea, Manhattan.
