Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani “Can’t Wait” To Get Married
Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani are reportedly ecstatic to exchange their vows, and for the big and long-awaited wedding day, “Gwen’s boys will be very involved.”
Gwen Stefani shares three children from her previous marriage to Gavin Rossdale: Kingston, 15, Zuma, 12, and Apollo, 7.
During this week’s issue of PEOPLE, a source told the media outlet that The Voice co-hosts’ wedding is around the corner. This is coming just a few days after rumors started circulating that the couple had gotten hitched in a super private ceremony. The rumors were created, in part, by Gwen Stefani’s recent post where the singer/songwriter captioned a picture of herself, taken at what appears to be a bridal shower, “SHE’S GETTING MARRIIIEEEED”.
Blake Shelton’s Relationship with Gwen’s Boys
“Ever since they got engaged, they have both been adamant that no wedding will happen until it’s safe for family and friends to attend. Gwen expressed early on that she really wanted a summer wedding,” the source shared. “She was upset earlier this year when it seemed to be no end in sight for the pandemic. She slowly started planning the wedding this spring though.”
“They are both ecstatic that it can finally happen. They are getting married this summer. Gwen’s boys will be very involved,” the insider added, also noting that Blake will be a great extra dad to Gwen’s boys as he is very close to them.
Recently, Stefani shared a selfie video after celebrating her bridal shower with her family. “I got kidnapped by my family to celebrate,” she said. “I’m getting married!”
The source’s words agrees with that of a friend of the couple, who told people in December last year that Gwen’s sons will be a central part of the wedding.
“Gwen’s sons are just really solid, sweet kids, and they’re so excited for Blake and Gwen to get married,” the friend said at the time. “They can’t wait to stand by their sides.”
“From the beginning, Gwen made it clear to Blake that her boys were No. 1 in her life, and Blake always respected this,” another source close to Stefani also told PEOPLE in December.
“He never wanted to overstep and made sure everyone was comfortable with his role in her sons’ lives,” a friend of Stefani added.
Gwen Stefani is Planning the Big Day
From the start, Blake Shelton has always hinted at his desire to have his pal Adam Levine perform with his band Maroon 5 at his wedding. But Stefani isn’t onboard with it, and while she loves the idea of Levine performing at the wedding, she isn’t sure she wants a band to play at the wedding.
“If I was picking our meal, it would just literally be everything fried,” he joked to USA Today on what would happen if he were to plan the big night. “French fries, chicken tenders, you know, all of that stuff. I think [Gwen] knows that it would be a pretty classless wedding if I was in control.”
“I want her to do all of that stuff and handle it because it’s going to be great,” Shelton continued. “She’s in the middle of planning the thing, and she’s always so mindful … of me.”
