Will the country music songstress choose Netflix or Broadway to feature her musical biography? Read on to discover how Dolly Parton will transform her life story into a musical show to light up our lives!
Dolly Debates Life Story As Broadway Musical, Feature Film, Or TV Series
Dolly Parton has shared glimpses of her life through interviews and books, including “Dolly Parton, Songteller: My Life in Lyrics.” What could be next?
The country music queen is happily envisioning her life come to life in a Broadway musical or Netflix musical film (and making us country music fans happy as well!). Parton has shared details of her work thus far on her biographical show.
“I’m still working on my life story as a musical, and so I’m not sure if I want to do it as a feature-film musical or if I do want to go ahead and do it on Broadway,” explained Dolly.
In addition, Parton even has considered turning her life story into series of TV episodes rather than a single musical movie or Broadway hit.
“I do think that [my life story] would make a good [TV] series,” admitted Parton in a recent interview.
Dolly Parton Even Knows Which Star Should Portray Younger Version Of Country Music Legend
Dolly Parton’s life story may require multiple actresses to portray the country music legend herself. Of course, Dolly could play herself today. But Parton has thought about which singer/actress could portray her younger self.
Can you guess? We’ll give you some clues. This witty blonde beauty is just as talented in singing as she is in acting.
What makes her perfect for Dolly Parton’s needs: She has experience both on Broadway and on TV. We’re talking about Kristin Chenoweth.
Dolly shared that she loves Kristin, calling her “absolutely fantastic.” What makes Chenoweth so perfect?
- The talented singer/actress soared to success on Broadway before. Audiences cheered as Kristin waved her wand as Glinda in the beloved Broadway musical “Wicked.”
- And if Parton decides to aim for a Netflix TV series? Chenoweth proved her TV talents as well on the TV hit series, “Glee.” Fans adored Kristin’s role as songstress April Rhodes.
As a result of her background, Kristin tops Dolly’s “who could play me” list. The country music singer revealed that she first thought of Chenoweth portraying her younger self “years and years ago, when I was going to do the Broadway musical.”
Dolly says Kristin would “be an ideal person” for the role. The transformation of her life story into a Netflix film or TV series or even a Broadway show remains a work in progress. But Parton is determined to turn her dreams into reality.
“I’m still working on it,” shared Dolly. “But we’re all getting older now, so if we tell the parts…we may be able to have different Dollys. We’d probably have to have—as long as my career has been—like a little Dolly, and a middle Dolly, and then the older one. And [Kristen Chenoweth would] still be great for that.”
