How Old George Strait is Might Surprise You
George Strait was born on May 18, 1952, making him 68 years old. That’s right, this amazing country legend is nearly 70 and yet the talented American country music singer, songwriter, actor, and music producer has the energy of someone half that.
The reason he has been nicknamed the “King of Country” is because he is one of the most influential and popular recording artists of all time.
George Strait has been labeled a country neotraditionalist, a moniker also applied to fellow hitmakers Garth Brooks, Randy Travis and Dwight Yoakum. What does this mean? In the late 80’s Strait and other artists steered country back to its roots and away from the “Rhinestone Cowboy” era of more pop sounding tunes.
