How old is Vince Gill?  Vincent Grant Gill, popularly known in the public space as Vince Gill, is an American country music superstar who is renowned for his musical instrument versatility as well as his singing and songwriting talents.

Vince was born on the 12th of April, 1957, in Norman, Oklahoma. He is one of the most successful artists in the United States, with over 26 million copies of his over 20 albums having been sold. His strides in the country music genre earned him an induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2007.

The 64-year-old superstar holds the record for the most Grammy Awards won by a male artist, as he has collected 22 of them. He has also collected 18 awards at the Country Music Association Awards, which makes him the artist with the most CMA Awards with 2 Entertainer of The Year awards.

Vince Gill Growing Up And Rise To Fame

Vince Gill grew up in Norman, Oklahoma, under the watchful eyes of his father, a lawyer and part-time member of a country music band, and his mother, Jerene Gill. He grew up alongside his stepbrother, Bob Coen, who is Jerene’s son from her former marriage, his brother, Bob, and his sister, Gina.

Vince Gill was encouraged by his father to learn to play several musical instruments, including the guitar and the banjo.

He is a 1975 graduate of the Northwest Classen High School, Oklahoma, where he developed an interest in his love for the game of golf. He then proceeded to perform in some bluegrass bands before he burst into the limelight as the lead singer of the Pure Prairie League, with their song, “Let Me Love You Tonight”.

The country music superstar began his solo music career with RCA in 1981, then left to join MCA Records in 1989. His deal with MCA Records launched his successful solo artist career as his 1989 album When I Call Your Name sold over a million copies. Since then, the Grand Ole Opry inductee has released 16 other successful albums.

Relationships And Marriage

Vince Gill met his first wife, the country music vocalist, Janis Oliver when they were both starting their musical careers. At the time, Janis was performing with the Los Angeles band, Sweethearts of the Rodeo.

They got married in 1980 and were blessed with their daughter, Jenny, in 1982. In 1983, they moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where Vince continued working on his musical career as a lyricist and part-time guitarist, while that of Janis and her band crew continued to rise. Sometimes, Vince produced their songs. The pair ended their marriage in1997.

It was during his estranged marriage with Janis that Vince Gill first met his present wife, gospel artist Amy Grant, in 1993. At the same time, Grant’s marriage was also in turmoil, with a separation in 1998 leading to a finalized divorce in 1999.

A few months after her divorce, Vince began dating her with several public displays of affection noticed by the media. The pair got married in March of 2000, and currently live with their daughter, Corrina, in their home in Nashville, Tennessee.
