Luke Bryan Reveals How He Felt Winning Entertainer of the Year at the 2021 ACM Awards
Luke Bryan has soared to superstar status in recent years. Whether Bryan is delighting audiences as a judge on American Idol with his expert insights or adding to his fanbase with his country music talents, Luke has managed to stay humble even though he’s a star. That made his recent confessions all the more unexpected.
Find out what Luke Bryan recently revealed below, and don’t miss the video where Luke talks about his insights.
How He Really Felt About Missing Country Music Award Ceremony
Traditionally, the Academy of Country Music (ACM) Award ceremony is one that all nominees attend. But in 2021, the usually star-studded audience was missing someone special.
Luke Bryan did not travel to the ACM Awards this year. Ironically, Bryan was absent for a ceremony that would have been especially significant for him: Luke was named Entertainer of the Year at the event.
So what happened? Bryan tested positive for COVID-19, a diagnosis that forced him to walk away from the American Idol stage.
And even when Luke had recovered, he faced a choice: Whether to travel to the Academy of Country Music (ACM) Award ceremony or return to the American Idol stage for the live performances.
Given that he’d missed out on accepting the highly prestigious Entertainer of the Year, country music fans might assume Bryan would feel depressed when he learned what he had missed. But instead, he revealed that even though he appreciated the honor, his focus was on American Idol.
“I’m feeling great!” insisted Luke as he returned to the American Idol set to rejoin fellow judges Katy Perry and Lionel Richie rather than attend the ACM ceremony.
And the duo seemed just as happy to see him back. “The team is back together. Our resident germ is back on the scene,” joked Lionel. “We feel so good about having our official germ back with us.”
Country Music King Luke Bryan Uses His Covid-19 Diagnosis To Take Us Inside His Struggles [Watch the Video!]
Celebrity magazines sometimes have a feature called, “Stars: They’re Just Like Us,” showing superstars who seem to face challenges to which we can all relate.
Now Luke Bryan is proving that he’d qualify for such a feature by taking his country music fans inside his own struggles after his shocking diagnosis of Covid-19.
Bryan admitted that the illness proved to be “quite challenging for a couple of days, thank God for… certainly, health.” Luke also expressed appreciation for his wife Caroline, who devoted herself to “nursing me back to health.”
And Luke reflected on what the pandemic has meant to him. “The main thing that’s got us through is certainly your friends and family praying. Everybody can see the other side of this pandemic leaning on… people,” pointed out Bryan.
Luke also expressed appreciation for the way that the pandemic gave him the opportunity to “spend quality time with my family.” However, Bryan did miss his country music audience.
“You learn that at your core, being out onstage in front of your fans, it’s a big part of my happiness, too,” admitted Luke. “I’m not going to say I haven’t had ups and downs and bouts of depression… Winning Entertainer of the Year is certainly one of those things where you are like, ‘Thank you, God, thank you fans.’”
