Where is Chris Stapleton from?  Christopher Alvin Stapleton, an American-multi award-winning songwriter, guitarist, and singer, is widely known for his eclectic style and prowess as a music star.

About two decades ago, Stapleton dumped the idea of pursuing engineering to become a country star. The venture paid off for the country star, who has since become a notable name in the music industry.

Chris Stapleton: Background and Childhood Years

Stapleton was born on April 15, 1978, to Herbert J. Stapleton Jnr. and Carol J. Stapleton in Lexington, Kentucky. In Lexington, Stapleton’s father worked at the coal mines while his mother worked at a local health department. Sometime during his childhood years, Stapleton moved to Staffordsville, Kentucky, where he grew up with his siblings, Herbert Joseph III, and Melanie Brooke, his younger sister.

Stapleton played football in high school. He also started an engineering degree at the Vanderbilt University but dropped out after a year to pursue a musical career.

Chris Stapleton: The Making of a Legend

In 2001, after dropping out of Vanderbilt University, Stapleton moved to Nashville, Tennessee, with the hope of becoming a musical sensation. Just four days later, his big break came. He signed a deal with Sea Gayle Music publishing house. Stapleton quickly rose to stardom, writing different country songs for renowned country singers, including George Strait, Luke Bryan, and Kenny Chesney.

For Kenny Chesney, Stapleton co-wrote “Never Wanted Nothing More.” He also worked on Darius Rucker’s ” Come Back Song” and Luke Bryan’s “Drink a Beer.” Seven years after he arrived in Nashville, Stapleton became the lead singer of the bluegrass group, The Steeldrivers. In total, the band has four albums and one live album. Under Stapleton, the band had two hits that peaked at number 2 on the bluegrass chart. They also received three Grammy Awards nominations.

Jompson Brothers and Solo Career

His journey with the Steeldrivers ended in 2010. He founded his rock band known as The Jompson Brothers. The band went on several tours and recorded an album in the year of its creation. Three years after creating the Jompson Brothers, Stapleton decided to pursue a career as a solo artist. That October, he released ” What Are You Listening To?”, his first single track as a solo artist.

Stapleton’s songs have been adapted for movies, including “Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip” and “Valentine’s Day.” In 2015, Stapleton released his first album as a solo artist. Stapleton and Dave Cobb produced the album titled ” Traveller.” That same year, Stapleton won three awards at the Country Music Association Awards.

In 2017, Stapleton released his second album as a solo artist. The album, “From a Room: Volume 1,” won Stapleton the Album of the Year award at the Country Music Association Awards. Stapleton released “From A Room: Volume 2” on December 1, 2017, co-produced with Dave Cobb. The album debuted at number two on the US Billboard 200.
