Taylor Swift Gives Thanks To Her Country Music Inspiration

Like so many creative people, Taylor has sought to stay true to her self regardless of how successful she became. Today, Swift stands alone as the only woman to take home the Grammy Award’s Album of the Year three times, while she’s garnered honors ranging from number one on the Billboard charts to platinum albums.

Through it all, Taylor has turned to the same person for inspiration, for strength, and ultimately, for love: Her mother Andrea Swift.

Just like her daughter, Andrea was raised in Pennsylvania. Taylor Swift’s mother turned their Christmas tree farm into a home base for her daughter, a place where the country music songstress could feel safe and loved.

And then the woman who inspired Taylor faced life-threatening news: A diagnosis of breast cancer. When the country music songstress learned about Andrea’s battle, she penned the loving, hopeful song, “Soon You’ll Get Better.”

In addition to writing about her mother’s battle with breast cancer, Taylor sought to be with Andrea Swift as much as possible when she endured chemotherapy. The family felt heartbroken when they learned that Andrea had a tumor.

But even though Andrea couldn’t be physically with her daughter, Taylor always felt her presence in her life.

Swift admitted how challenging it was to realize the extent of her mother’s illness and then to share her feelings in song.

“Everyone loves their mom; everyone’s got an important mom, but for me, she’s really the guiding force,” shared Taylor.  “Almost every decision I make, I talk to her about it first. So obviously it was a really big deal to ever speak about her illness.”
